Do you have a Patreon?
I often receive emails asking me if I have a Patreon or a way to “buy me a cup of coffee” after watching one of my YouTube videos that has helped a user out. I don’t have Patreon or Venmo or any other services set up for that. A lot of times just hearing from someone that has let me know one of my videos has helped them is thanks enough. It’s nice knowing the videos you make aren’t just going into the interwebs where they aren’t useful.
Before I would consider starting a Patreon, I would want to make sure that I can produce regular helpful content on a consistent basis. Maybe I will set up a Patreon in the future, but for now, I think I have an alternate idea.
Online Store
I’m in the process of having an online store set up to be able to sell some products. Some of the products will be physical things. Some of the products will be digital assets like custom title blocks, work holding, and machine configuration files so users can have more accurate simulations.
One of the items I’m planning to release is a aluminum bottle opener made on the Syil. I’m planning on having the bottle openers anodized with a few options. People will be able to order a plain bottle opener, a bottle opener with my logo on it, and a custom engraved bottle opener option. The idea behind these will be a way to support my business and YouTube channel and allow me to create more YouTube content.
Another potential option could be a bottle opener in a box. I did a project for Autodesk along the same lines where potential educators received a “speed vise handle in a box”. In the box, the received a finished speed vise handle and knob, along with links to video tutorials and written instructions to create the speed vise handle, along with the raw material needed to make a speed vise handle. Let me know if you would be interested in that option.

Coming to the end of summer
Summer in Minnesota is coming to a close. I chose to spend a lot of time outdoors this summer enjoying the lakes of Minnesota. I haven’t been very active on YouTube, and that is one of the primary reasons. I think many of you do the same thing in the summer as video views decrease. I have been working on some YouTube projects that will start to roll out after Labor Day. These will be a combination of Fusion feature videos, along with machining videos that will cover CAD, CAM, and seeing the Syil X7 make the parts.
